Dark Night In Luton with guest DJ Uncle Filthy 27.11.2014

One last chance to experience the musical delights of Uncle Filthy this year, and what a great night it was. I really enjoy the more 'raucous' elements of my Dark Nights, and the fact we had a few more people in support really helped! 3 nights left in December, with an added special night on Xmas Eve, under the guise of 'Rudolph Russ' although I fear the music will be a tad more commercial than usual depending on what crowd we get in support! So if you want more alternative, you know what to do!

Dark Night In Luton - Facing Your Demons 20.11.2014

A quiet but interesting night. I guess the cold kept a lot of people away or perhaps just they couldn't handle a night of facing their demons on this particular night! With the original plans for guest DJ going up in smoke as soon as I'd uploaded all the details for the new event, a swift rewrite was quickly required, and tbh, I think it turned out better that what I was originally going to play!! Still, the music flowed, requests played and compliments gratefully accepted. Many thanks to those that did show (and stayed!) Hope to see more of you next week!

Dark Night In Vanda 13.11.2014

Due to the nature of tonight's show, it wasn't advertised on the actual group site until the actual day, although that made very little difference, as the majority of the Dark Night group already knew about the night anyway.

So, the second in the 'In Vanda' series and another chance to celebrate her birthday playing a whole night of her favourite bands, whilst in the presence of those friends that could make the night. Definitely a good night out, with the full moon certainly living up to its reputation. Good to see a few more familiar faces from the group site, but nowhere near as many as their should be locally. Dark Psych In Luton 30.10.2014

I think the best way to approach this weeks psych/Halloween night is to basically inform you of what you missed out on. Whilst we didn’t manage to get the projector we were hoping for, we did have our mini-lightshow in full force, occasionally shutting down lights throughout the sets for added effect. For those of you that also read the post of me playing the most ‘beautiful song of 2014’, yes it was played, and yes, it was a lovely moment in time.

Regardless, the music at ‘Dark Psych’ just seems to get better at every event, so a big thanks to DJ Brian O’Blivion for the insight, influence and input into the night, and to our few witnesses that know a good thing when they hear it!

Bit of a late start due to somebody insisting that he put on 10 songs on the jukebox just as I'm about to start the night! Ironically, most of what he selected, I could of played and saved him £3!

8.30pm we finally got underway with a comfortable and sociable crowd this time, although I wasn't expecting many due to the long month taking its monetary toll and busy weekend with most clubs jumping on the 'Halloween' bandwagon.

Dark Night In Luton 16.10.2014

As some of you know, I've been forced upon a (pointless) DWP course (which is basically another excuse for the Tory government to doctor their unemployment figures to make out things are better than they actually are!) So, after the past few days of having to be upright and act in a sociable manner most of the day, I can't say I was really in the mood for going out again, and after the last two Dark Night events being so busy, I pretty much guessed that I wouldn't have much of an audience this week, so I strategically planned to play tribute to two good friends - Billy & Marina, both whom have had recent birthdays, and that I knew were definitely going to be down for the night, so when you read the playlist below, you'll understand why! If anything, I preferred the randomness and quirkiness of the set, and as nobody else complained, I guess it went down well! And as it happens, in the end, we had a good crowd out, albeit, only a few from the group site, but that's the norm I guess!
