Another night of the clashes (or The Buzzcocks as the case maybe!) but 'soulless' was a great fun night, with some new bods, and the pub regulars (or irregulars!) joining in the fun as always. A lovely mixture of music as well, with plenty of great requests making the night a pleasure to play.

Bad Music For Bad People 23.9.2016

First off, I want to express my thanks to all those that helped share fliers and the events page for this particular event. I'm unsure if it really made a difference, but considering all the other events going on in Luton this particular night, I'm very pleased with the turn out and support.

Anyway, a fantastic night of music laid ahead for those that appeared, with all requests being honoured as best we could, plus it was great to see so many happy faces!!

The David Bowie Birthday Bash @ G2 (Saturday 7th January 2017)

With Sunday 8th January now being the official "International Bowie Day" Dark Night DJ Russ & The George 2nd celebrate the return of the thin white duke with David Bowies 70th birthday hosting another (undoubtedly) packed night with tracks from his back extensive catalogue of 26 albums from Space Oddity to Blackstar, (and then some!!)

Not to be missed.

Cruel Summer @ G2 27.8.2016

Perhaps the night really should of been entitled "The Good, The Bad, and the downright Ugly" as far as the music was concerned! But still, plenty of cheese, and I couldn't think of a better and more enjoyable way to bow out of my DJ duties for the next few months. I sang myself hoarse, drunk way too much, and had the best night in ages.

So many thanks to those that supported the night, especially those that travelled, and although I've nothing booked now until January 2017s Bowie night, I'm sure you'll see me again soon for another possible trip back to the 80s, or maybe 70s!!

Dark Nights Alternative Summertime Party 12.8.2016

Ok, well I was told that my expectations were way too high tonight, but when you take into account the distinct lack of alternative events in the town these days, I suppose I could be forgiven for thinking that hosting a 'party/club type night might encourage more people to venture out, but obviously not!

Ironically, the original set I'd written, which was far more of my usual 'Dark Night' style, was actually used in the end, and the 'dancey' set pretty much dis-guarded. Although I really could of used some more alternative types to prevent the dreadful 'Drake' requests from coming in. Still, entertain those that are there, and damn the rest I guess!

So with that in mind, thank you very much for the few that did support the night, with special thanks to Tim for bringing his lighting kit down once more. I've no plans to run anymore Dark Nights at this stage, although I do have the 'Cruel Summer' 80s night coming up during the bank holiday in a few weeks, so I hope to see more of people then, but otherwise, keep watching the skies!

The Smiths "The Queen Is Dead" Dark Night Special 17.6.2016

So, thirty years in the blink of an eye! I still remember vividly buying the album back in the day, and loving every minute of listening to the harmonious warblings of Morrissey, and reading the painfully intellectual yet cutting lyrics. I even had the green vinyl version at one point, but stupidly sold it many years back!

Anyway, it was time for Dark Night to host another 30th anniversary special night, and what more fun than an album that means so much to me, mixed with other tracks from the same era, plus a few extras. Typically, a quiet start, with quite a few of the intended punters not turning up, but the cider flowed well, and a small, but fun group emerged triumphantly to make last orders. Thankfully, the pub itself filled up towards the end of the night too, which made all the difference, and as no one complained about the music, we carried on regardless!!
