Bearing in mind that I've another 'one-off' night planned for the preceding evening, I was very impressed with the amount of people that supported the night. This, in turn, raised my levels of excitement for the night, and thanks to you that supported, I had an absolute blast all night.
Another great mix of genres from myself and Chris, with the playing of new Aeon Sable and New Days Delay, although I think The Cure and Swervedriver were my fav parts of the night. So thanks to all that ventured out

A great start to October, with support from far and wide as well as passing trade! I was so close to cancelling the night due to being struck down with one bastard of a cold since Monday, but was so glad I made the effort to drag myself out. Dark Night In Luton 25.9.2014

72 invited, 10 apparently going and 4 maybes, so with only 3 showing up you can appreciate it's sometimes difficult to maintain a positive attitude. Still, the end of the month night has always proved a difficult one to fill, and with half of Bute Street and Guildford Street all dug up and blocking off most of the businesses that even passing trade were nowhere to be seen, the baffling lack of pub advertising since the refurbishment, Strongbow being taken off the drinks menu and with no food being served due to lack of available staff, it all added up to one lousy day for the pub!

Regardless, I enjoyed the music, and even managed to make a new fan for 'Diary Of Dreams', so many thanks to those that did make the effort. Fingers crossed, next week is an improvement, especially with the new students are arriving.

Dark Night In Luton - Dark Psych In Luton with guest DJ Brian O'blivion 18.9.2014

Considering the amount of fog I awoke to on Thursday morning, spending the night playing a mix of mainly psych music somehow didn't seem right, but come 8pm, after a day of glorious sunshine, conditions couldn't of been more perfect., and now its getting darker at night, I'm way more in the mood for DJing.

Funnily enough, having found out that this week that Luton is a allegedly a 'gothless' void and that 'Dark Night' apparently is considered a non-event by certain people; all I can say is that I'm so pleased not to be part of what little is left these days of the local scene and rather prefer myself as a non-entity! Having run a very successful club night for nearly 10 years, I've nothing to prove to the haters, and whilst being guilty of running a weekly night with the name ‘Dark Night', while it does reflect possible gothic connotations to the untrained eye, luckily for me my tastes are way more eclectic and I'd consider the night to be more experimental than generic.

This also this drives my enthusiasm for running events in my home town, regardless that a majority of the time it’s not as well attended as I hoped, but here are many factors involved in mid week events and that a lesser person probably would of given up some time ago. I view the night simply as an outlet for people to enjoy themselves. If people choose to boycott that decision, then why should I care!

So getting back with the program, last night 'Dark Night' celebrated its 75th night, and although a quiet beginning, an busy end was the result, with me playing way past 12am to a very happy crowd. Many thanks to Lee (B O'B) for his great musical input and enough strobes to induce epilepsy in the strongest of us, and to those that showed their support. Dark Night is very appreciative.

The Staircase Mystery @ G2 13.9.2014

Personally, I can't remember the last time I woke up with such an excitement for the night ahead. and with the 'Wardance' and 'Death Disco' nights already under our belts, Nick & I were expecting another great night ahead. So, armed with some tacky lights and a fully loaded smoke machine, we attempted one last time to bring you a third and final night of classic punk and alternative music.

So in the end, another busy night was had, lots of alcohol consumed, and plenty of dancing till the wee small hours of the night was the order of the night, regardless that what we thought would be obvious support that was simply just not there!

So special thanks go out to Julianne for the loan of the smoke machine, even if the two chav girls that decided to sit on the dance floor for the first part of the night felt the need to complain about it, and to Katie for the unexpected, but delicious cakes for our guests. And lastly, to all those that made to effort to support the night.

I've one more special night planned (Modern Dance @ G2 Friday 10th October with classic muisc for the new wave, post-punk and new romantic genres from the 1981/2 period) but for the time being will continue to run the run the weekly 'Dark Night In Luton' for those that still require a constant need for the alternative!

Dark Night In Luton - September Falls 4.9.2014

As much as I disagree with the new colour scheme of the recently refurbished George, I'm not sure why, but the sound has greatly improved, even if the equipment is still covered in dust every week! And for me, that's all that counts!

So September hits our shores, and the first night is over and the later the night became, the more fun I seemed to have. Due to the special themed nights to come., I wanted to keep the night more random, and I think we achieved that quite well, even making a new fan for The Exploding Boy on the way!

Anyway, thanks to all that showed and helped make the night fun to play, especially to Billy for the requests! (btw, Skiddle stats insist we had 9045 hits!!)
